Celebrate Love of Literacy at Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum Tucson is celebrating Love of Literacy with a weekend full of readings from local children’s authors, storybook characters, hands-on activities and more on Sept. 22 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

There will also be a “Stories that Soar” performance each day at 11:30 am.

Admission is free all weekend for the event, sponsored by Target.

Local children’s authors to be featured are Byrd Baylor, Nicki DiCampli, Karla Lehmann, Jennifer Humphries, Charline Profiri and Jennifer J. Stewart.

Joining the Museum on Saturday, Sept. 22 to advocate the importance of literacy will be the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and Blind, Bear Essential News, Ben’s Bells, Bookbike from Pima County Public Library, Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, Child Care Resource and Referral, Green Pieces Cartoon Studio, Literacy Connects, Make Way for Books, Pima County Public Library, Postal History Foundation, UA Bookstore and Worlds of Words.

Children’s Museum Tucson serves more than 134,000 children and families annually who come to experience the fun, hands-on environment of a children’s museum.  The exhibits, programs and special events invite the young and the young-at-heart to discover and explore the arts, sciences and humanities together in an environment that enhances these learning experiences.
