Holiday Express Rings in the Holidays at The Historic Depot
December 5, 2012
The holidays are all about singing, writing letters to Santa, model trains and “The Polar Express” – the book and the movie.
All of the above are part of the “8th annual Holiday Express Down at the Train Depot with Santa” on Dec. 15 at the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum, 414 N. Toole Ave.
The fun starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 1:30 p.m. and then moves to the Fox Theatre for a 2 p.m. screening of “The Polar Express.”
Before that, there will be a reading of “The Polar Express” book at the “Holiday Express” event.
Elves from the Tucson Postal History Museum will help kids write letters to the North Pole.
And when was the last time your kid had a picture taken with Santa in front of a century-old locomotive (unless they came to prior Holiday Expresses)? The locomotive in question is the museum’s Locomotive 1673, which appeared in the movie musical, “Oklahoma.”
You can also explore the museum’s exhibits and new live action displays. The museum has operating model trains, a kid’s favorite.
Holiday singing will keep the spirit alive during “Holiday Express.”
