2nd Saturdays Returns to Congress Street

2nd Saturdays on March 9 will celebrate the return of the event to Congress St. with all of your favorite street performers and new features including carriage rides and a new music venue.
Tucson’s favorite street festival will be back on Congress St., now open to vehicle traffic between 6th and Church. Activities start at 4pm on up and down the street, The Fire Truck Adventure Zone at the kids’ area will include a free kids’ movie at the Old Pueblo Garage, 25 E. Congress. That’s not all!
The KIIM/KHIT Scott Ave. Stage kicks off with:
5pm Odaiko Sonora, Japanese Ensemble drumming
6pm Gertie N The T.O. Boyz, Walia Music
7:30pm Gabriel Ayala, Classical, Jazz & Flamenco Guitar
8-10:15pm Santa Pachita, Latin Reggae, Ska & Rock in Espanol
Carriage Rides through historic Downtown neighborhoods will be offered by Sentinel Carriage Company and Good Shepherd Ranch. These carriage rides will introduce you to some of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods. The carriages can hold 4-12 people depending on the company you select. Cost is minimal. The Fire Truck Adventure Zone Kids’ Area will be full of fun with a fully functioning fire truck, 3 jumping houses, photos of the kids and other activities. The featured movie, “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure”, starts at 6pm. All activities at the Fire Truck Adventure Zone are always free of charge.
Congress St. is open to automobile traffic, so you can easily visit your favorite restaurant or bar. There will be a lot of activity to see on all the Downtown streets and sme Downtown merchants will offer discounts and specials as you stroll about.

As significant progress continues to be made with streetcar construction, vehicular access to Downtown is improving, and all the parking garages will be open and accessible.
