Biologist Sergio Avila presents “Sky Islands of the Santa Cruz Valley” from Sergio Avila Sergio Avilanoon – 1 p.m. at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave. in the lower level meeting room in the latest of the series of free lectures by Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance. The May 7 talk is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the library garage and is free for the first hour.

Learn what “sky islands” are and how the rich biodiversity of these areas makes them nationally distinctive. Avila will share insights into his wildlife research and conservation work with Sky Island Alliance.

The Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural, historic, and natural treasures of the Santa Cruz Valley, is sponsoring the lecture series in celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2013.
