Cylovia Tucson – Travel Information

Downtown and South Tucson will be the host of Printthe first of two planned Cyclovias this year on April 7, 2013.  The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Cyclovia closes approximately five miles of streets to car traffic so the community can bike, walk, skate and participate in fun, free activities.  For more information on Cyclovia please visit: www.cycloviatucson.org

Below is the vehicular travel restrictions associated with this event. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. Businesses, parking garages and parking lots are open and accessible. There are over 15,000 available parking spaces in the Downtown Tucson. Attendees parking within the surrounding neighborhoods should exercise caution to not block private driveways, or to park too close (within 30 feet) to intersections, and should observe any posted permit parking restrictions.

Cyclovia Tucson – Beginning Sunday, April 7, 2013 at approximately 7 a.m. the intersection of Eighth Avenue and 34th Street will be closed. Beginning at approximately 9 a.m., Fourth Avenue between 13th Street and 34th Street will be closed; access across Fourth Avenue will be maintained at 18th, 22nd and Silverlake Streets. Also at 9 a.m. 34th Street will be close between Eighth Avenue and 4th Avenue; cross traffic will be maintained at 6th Avenue.  Additionally at 9 a.m. Eighth Avenue between 34th Street and 18th Street will be closed with cross traffic allowed at Silverlake Street and 18th Street.  Convent Avenue will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. between 18th Street and Cushing Street. Cushing Street will be closed between Convent Avenue and Scott Avenue with through traffic permitted on Stone Avenue. Scott Avenue will be closed between Broadway and Cushing/14th Street, and 13th Street between Scott Avenue and Fourth Avenue will be closed.  All streets should reopen to automobile traffic by approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Motorists driving in the this area may experience traffic delays associated with this event and several road improvement projects, including the Sun Link Tucson Streetcar project, so please plan accordingly. The traveling public should use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in this area. Please watch for event participants, obey all traffic control, and watch for detour signs and personnel providing traffic control.  Further information about ongoing Sun Link Tucson Streetcar construction can be found at www.tucsonstreetcar.com.
