The Presidio Team: Real Estate Sold with Downtown in Mind

With Tucson growing and attracting new business every day, many locals worry that Tucson might soon start to lose its homegrown charm.
But some Tucsonans are way ahead of the curve, making careers out of continuing the Tucson style before it ever has a chance to be lost. The Presidio Team, of Omni Homes International, is a small and passionate group of local real estate agents with a vision of Downtown’s potential, and the means to get it there.
“We wanted to bring a presence down here to take care of the community,” says Justine Wadsack, CEO, team leader, and branch manager of the Presidio Team. Justine has had a deep, personal connection with Downtown all her life (she is a co-owner of Independent Distillery), and, like all of the team, is keenly invested in keeping the future of Downtown’s development true to its past and present.
“We wanted to take real estate to where it was, which is relationship-based, rather than just numbers,” she says.
Kenneth Hutson, a team real estate agent, agrees. “You want to work with someone you trust. That goes for everyone from your hairdresser to your Realtor.” That trust, they say, is central to their goal of bringing the businesses and people that will be best for Tucson’s future.
More than anything, the Presidio Team wants to make what’s best for the community a larger priority than what would necessarily be most profitable.
“We wanted to escape all the name brands,” says Ken. “We don’t want to see a Chili’s down here.” In fact, this is the reason the Team split from their previous brokerage as a group to join Omni Homes International in the first place.
“We want to make sure that people are getting what they deserve and being taken care of in the right way,” says Justine. Her husband Garret, a retired Air Force major and partner of Team Presidio, has felt firsthand what it’s like to be a veteran manipulated by an agency into buying a home that fit the brokerage’s needs more than his own. His experience and the experience of people like him is a lot of what drives Justine’s focus on doing what’s best for the client, which as she says, is really ultimately best for the community at large.
“A lot of people want to buy and buy here,” she says. The team’s focus in terms of residential real estate is to take advantage of that clamor to live in and around Downtown, making investment properties the standard in Downtown rather than rentals, and drawing families and other permanent residents to the city.
It took The Presidio Team 3 ½ years to get a spot in Downtown Tucson, but they knew the struggle to be there was worth it.
Their first branch office is currently in Connect Coworking, a tightly knit group of different local businesses in a space as welcoming and dynamic as the people who work there. Justine and Ken are visibly proud of where they work, quick to show off Connect’s architecture and amenities (the bar and the nap room were especially appealing). But besides being an obviously great working environment, to the Presidio Team Connect also represents the support Tucson businesses have for each other.
“If there’s something we need we exhaust all resources within these four walls, first,” says Justine. “We’re so happy here. We love our Downtown.”
The Presidio Team will be providing ample opportunity to discover more about the real estate Downtown has to offer in the coming months. They’re planning open houses of homes on the market, to coincide with Second Saturdays, and this month they’ll be hosting a client appreciation party. Justine and Ken make it clear that the public is welcome, and encourages everyone to come to Connect and meet the members of the Presidio Team.
