The Weilerstein Trio features Alisa Weilerstein, Vivian Hornik and Donald Weilerstein, original violinist of the Cleveland Quartet. They are currently trio-in-residence at the New England Conservatory, and are scheduled to perform at the Leo Rich Theatre on Wednesday, January 7, at 8:00pm.

When an old bachelor takes a young beauty for a bride, can betrayal be far behind? Deception, intrigue and romantic escapades create confusion for, “Don Pasquale” and hilarity for the audiences in this new production staged in the Old West. Shows are Friday, January 23 and Saturday, January 25 at 7:00pm, and Sunday, January 25 at 2:00pm.

Arizona Theatre Company

In a little New Orleans apartment, the combustible mixture of lust and anger, pride and shame, loss and desire create one of the most gripping stories ever told in Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning work of a genius. “A Streetcar Named Desire,” will be performed from Saturday, January 17 through Saturday, February 7.

Desert Divas

The Desert Divas show features Lisa Otey with Anna War, Kathleen Williamson, Liz McMahon, Hurricane Carla and some special guests. There will be an afternoon matinee at 2:00pm and an evening performance at 7:00pm on Saturday, January 17.

LaughingStock Comedy Company

”LaughingStock is Coming to Town” is Tucson’s first ever opportunity to see the experienced, professional, and very funny comedy troupe in action as they send up the holidays with an evening of improvisational comedy based on audience suggestions. The show will run through Saturday, January 3, 7:30pm.

Rhythm and Roots

One of the most awarded artists in folk music, Greg Brown, will perform with Karen Savoka and Pete Heitzman. Greg Brown’s smokey baritone conjures powerful images of family, home and the natural world. Thursday, January 8, at 8:00pm.

Sacred Space and Mask

The Muse Gallery, 1st floor of the Community Arts Center, 516 N. 5th Ave., 903-0918.
Lauren Raine and Catherine Nash will be exhibiting, “Sacred Space and Mask,” together at the Muse Gallery. Both artists have achieved international recognition, Lauren Raine as a mask artist and choreographer, and Catherine Nash as a papermaker, printmaker and installation artist. Shows will run from Friday, January 9 through Saturday, February 7. On Thursday, January 15 the artists will give a free discussion about their work.

From the era of drive-in movies, sock hops, and pajama parties comes the great new national tour of “Grease.” It’s an eye-popping, hand-jiving, finger-snapping celebration that has audiences dancing in the aisles. Performances are scheduled for Friday, January 30 at 8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday, January 31 and February 1, at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.

Tucson Jazz Society

The Tucson Jazz Society is proud to honor the memory of one of Tucson’s most beloved musicians with the John Denman Memorial Concert on Saturday, January 24, at 7:00pm. Through his music, John Denman left an indelible mark on the classical and jazz worlds, not only in Tucson, but across the globe.

Shows run from Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January 18. “Beethoven and Ohlsson,” featuring George Hanson and Garrick Ohlsson will perform Thursday, January 8 and Friday, January 9 at 8:00pm, and Sunday, January 11 at 2:00pm. The TSO presents its Classic Special on Saturday, January 10 at the TCC Music Hall, featuring George Hanson, Music Director and Conductor, and the spectacular, world renowned violinist, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg. The show begins at 8:00pm.

UA Presents

One of London’s longest running musicals, “Starlight Express,” has mesmerized theatre goers with its high speed spectacle, dazzling sets and costumes, and electrifying music. Featuring a cast on wheels, Starlight Express is like nothing you’ve ever seen before and promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. Performances are scheduled for Tuesday, January 13 through Sunday, January 18. Movement (R)evolution: New African Dance is a national project conceived to enable audiences across the United States to experience contemporary African dance artists and choreographers from three different nations, and to serve as a catalyst for the continued exchange for contemporary dance from Africa to tour in the USA. The premiere performances will be in Tucson from Friday, January 30 through Saturday, January 31.
