Arizona Theatre Company

“Talley’s Folly” continues through Saturday, November 8. Opening Saturday, November 29 is “It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues,” featuring the original Broadway cast and director. The co-production with Missouri Repertory Theatre takes a journey through the history of the blues – from Africa, to the Delta to The Windy City. The show runs through December 20.

Arizona Friends of Chamber Music

The non-profit continues its Evening Chamber Music Series on Wednesday, November 19 with Pacifica String Quartet at 8:00pm. The group (www.pacificaquartet.com) is a leading advocate of contemporary music and will be premiering and AFCM commission by veteran composer Ezra Sims.

Arizona Opera

“The Mikado” continues the season on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15 at 7:30pm. Considered one of the most popular operettas of all time, the Gilbert and Sullivan tale pokes fun at the human foibles when it comes to love. There will also be a performance on Sunday, October 12 at 2:00pm.

Holly Near and Cris Williamson, icons of feminist music, return together on their “Peace and Love” tour and will be sharing new material from their upcoming recording “Cris and Holly.” The show is slated for Saturday, November 15 at 8:00pm.

Kids Unlimited

“Seasons of Love” is a fun-filled musical review performed by a cast of 100 children/teens ages three to 18. This whimsical review gets your toes tapping and takes you back to the age of innocence. Shows are Saturday, November 8 at 7:30pm and Sunday, November 9 at 3:00pm.

Listen With Your Heart

The avant-garde voice-and-percussion duo Will & Cantrell will present a concert performance celebrating the release of their new CD Listen With Your Heart on Saturday, November 8, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. The artists will be available for a meet and greet and CD signing after the show.

Moscow Ballet

The Great Russian Nutcracker is being performed twice by the world-renown Moscow Ballet Company on Saturday, November 8 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm.

Moscow Boys Choir

In their only Arizona appearance, the prestigious Moscow Boys Choir will be performing Christmas Around the World on Friday, November 14 at 8:00pm.

O-T-O Dance (Formerly ORTS Theatre of Dance)

O-T-O Dance opens its 19th season with a compelling program of modern and aerial dance works in the new dance theatre. Featuring choreographers include Robert Davidson, Susan Quinn-Williams, Kevin Schroder, Annie Bunker and Katie Rutterer. The performances include Rapture Rumi, Desert Wash, St. Teresa, This Is For You, Free Samples and Traveler. Show times are Friday, November 14 at 8:00pm and Sunday, November 16 at 2:00pm.

Theatre League

The Theater League starts its 2003-2004 Broadway series with The Sound of Music. The musical has five shows: Friday, November 28 at 8:00pm, Saturday, November 29 at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, Sunday, November 30 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.

Tucson Jazz Society

The Tucson Hard Bop Quartet will play a show of hard bop tunes by such jazz greats as Horace Silver and Art Blakey on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30pm.

Tucson Symphony Orchestra

This month, the classic series will feature cellist Alisa Weilerstein and former music director Robert Bernhardt conducting Schumann’s “Spring Symphony.” Performances are scheduled for Thursday, November 20 and Friday, November 21 at 8:00pm.

Broadway’s inspiring tale of Peggy Sawyer’s rise to a Broadway star, “42nd Street,” is being performed Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2 at 2:00pm and 8:00pm. The Beauty in Dance series will showcase “The Suzanne Farrell Ballet: A Tribute to George Balanchine.” The critically acclaimed new dance company is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4 at 7:30pm. Africa in America features the Wynton Marsalis Septet playing American jazz standards and blues on Thursday, November 6 at 7:30pm, and Reggie Wilson Fist and Heel Performance Group, Black Umfolsi, and Noble Douglas Dance Company on Saturday, November 22 at 8:00pm. Pianist André Watts will play the Classic Music spot on Wednesday, November 12 at 7:30pm. Ensembel Kaboul, with special guest Ustad Mahwash, will present the rich musical tradition of Afghanistan on Tuesday, November 18, and Wednesday, November 19, at 7:30pm.

Way Back Playback Theatre

The performers from Tucson Playback Theatre will be presenting this original form of improvisational theatre on Saturday, November 22 starting at 7:00pm. “Tellers” from the audience will share stories based on their lives and the performers will enact them in a way that honors people’s stories.
