Davis Dominguez Gallery

Starting Friday October 3 and running through October 30 is German native Carina Auler’s “I Love Tucson – A Photographic Journey.” The artist’s reception is Friday October 3 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Phantom Front Gallery

Starting October 15 and running through December is Kenneth Armstrong’s metal-on-metal steel and laser light artwork. The work can be viewed through the windows of the old Thrifty building on Congress St. between Scott Ave. and Stone Ave. The Phantom Front Gallery is coordinated by the Tucson Arts District Partnership. Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery

Running through October 18, is “Portraits/Retratos” a solo exhibition with Mary Lou Williams, a figure-drawing teacher at Pima Community College.  The show features portraits by Mary Lou of Raices Taller, member artists, and some of her friends.

Solar Culture

Saturday October 25 opens the new art show, “Now Is the Time.” The gallery opens its space to any artist; just bring your work ready to be hung! All work is accepted, no commission is taken if something sells. Showing work is free and it can be brought to the gallery in the afternoons or evenings from Sunday October 19 to Thursday October 23.

Temple Gallery

Continuing through Wednesday October 15 is “Helmut Horn: Photographs.” Helmut Horn’s current exhibition features images of varied sites in and around Tucson’s downtown Barrio.

3Falk Gallery – Contemporary Art

41 S. 6th Ave., 628-9601, www.3falk.com. Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10:00am to 3:00pm, and by appointment. “Gallery Mix” is a showcase of gallery artists currently featured through October 15. Also on exhibit is a collection of rare photographs taken in Jerusalem in the 1920s, recently rediscovered in 2001.

The Modern Hand

Located at Old Town Artisans, 186 N. Meyer, 620-1725. Hours: Monday- Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm., and Sunday, Noon to 5:00pm. Opening October 17 and running through November 21, the gallery will be showing paintings and ceramic sculptures by Tucson artist Eleanor Kohloss and paper cuts by Rick Jones from Redwood City, CA.  The opening reception is Saturday, October 18 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

Tucson Arts District Partnership Phantom Gallery

4 E. Congress St., 624-9977, www.tucsonartsdistrict.org. Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Artists featured in the office through Monday, October 13, are Rand Carlson, and Ed Davenport. Carlson’s rarely seen Plein Aire paintings, and Davenport’s stone sculptures are featured. Rand Carlson is widely known for his cartoon in the Tucson Weekly, “Random Shots.” Davenport’s work has been shown in numerous galleries in Tucson and Tubac. Starting October 10 and running through November 14, preview the work of the studio tour artists.

Showing in the lobby in “Quilt for a Cause,” running through October 15. From October 16th through November 17th is “Prints of the Mythic West.”  This exhibit “highlights the graphic work of Lon Megargee, Arizona’s original cowboy artist.  His archetypal images of the West remain part of the standard recipe of novels, movies, and tourist attractions.”

WomanKraft Art Gallery

The gallery is presenting “Imagine”, a multi-media exhibit exploring surrealism and fantasy art. 2nd opening night reception is Saturday October 4, 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Show continues through October. “Holiday Bazaar” opening night reception is Saturday November 1, 7:00pm to 10:00 pm. Local artists offer affordable and unique creations in all mediums. Show continues through December.

Zoe Boutique

735 N. 4th Ave., 740-1201. Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11:00am to 7:00pm. Opening Saturday, October 11, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm is the reception for K Bear Koss’s show CONTEXT. This new series of paintings is directly influenced by Koss’ experiences in Mongolia, a place where Old Russian technology was slowly collapsing much as his hometown had been.
