Beer with the Bard (2nd Annual)
April 23 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm| $5
About the Show
The Tucson Fringe Festival is proud to present Beer With The Bard, a Shakespeare themed pub crawl, on Saturday April 23rd. First tour begins at 1pm at Independent Distillery. Second tour begins at 1:45pm.
Join local actors, some of Tucson favorites and some fresh faces, as we tour several local watering holes with a Shakespeare performance in each venue. The pub crawl starts with local cartoonist and bon-vivant David Fitzsimmons delivering one of The Bard’s best known speeches at Independent Distillery. Then join the crowd as we make our way down Congress Street and up Fourth Avenue, sampling spirits and being entertained by some of Shakespeare’s most beloved characters along the way.
A Short History of the Show
The combination of Shakespeare and beer is not a new one. In the Renaissance era, groundlings often enjoyed a hoppy brew while enjoying the latest play from pop sensation William Shakespeare. A few years back The New York Shakespeare Exchange brought back the idea of hops and headdy theatre with their ShakesBeer Pub Crawl through New York.
Last year’s event here in Tucson was a rousing success, enjoyed by over one hundred revellers. This year promises to be extra special since it will occur on Shakespeare’s Birthday. Due to the popularity of last year’s event, we’ll be adding multiple tours throughout the afternoon.
