6th Annual Family Arts & Music Experience at Children’s Museum Tucson
Tucson, Ariz— FAME, a Family Arts and Music Experience, will take place at the Children’s Museum located at 200 S. 6th Avenue on Sunday, October 23rd from 10am to 2pm. Now in its 6th year, the event attracts over 2000 kids and families who spend an exciting free day enjoying creative and performing arts, music, food and fun and center stage live entertainment by a variety of Tucson’s finest young performing groups.
Founded by Neelam Sethi and Dr. Gulshan Sethi in 2010, FAME was a spin off of their original event Bollywood at the Fox, which they did for several years to showcase the newly restored historic Fox Tucson Theatre. The money raised was earmarked for arts programing for kids. When Michael Luria, director of the Children’s Museum offered to host a free day of hands on and performing arts for kid, they were thrilled. Since then, families from all over the community look forward to the annual event which has turned the Sethi’s dream of giving Tucson’s kids a wonderful day of creative play, a wonderful reality.
“The Arts so enrich our lives in every way. We want FAME to be a special day for Tucson’s children, to come and experience a world of playful creativity and learn of other cultures. From dancing and drumming to sand painting, sketching and dress up, the offerings are endless”, said Mrs. Sethi. The active couple can be found each year doing their part to make the day special. Mrs. Sethi creates artistic name signs for each child written in colorful Hindi script while Dr. Sethi takes on his alter ego, “Dr. Gully G”, a delightful clown who loves spending the day making balloon animals and being surrounded by kids of all ages.
This year’s providers of hands on creative activities include: Barbea Williams Performing Company, Ben’s Bells Project, Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona, Drawing Studio, KidzArt, Las Artes, Sonoran Glass School, Supporting Environmental Education and Communities Mini Leo Project at the University of Arizona, Tucson Boys Chorus, Tucson Chinese Cultural Center, Tucson Music and Dance Academy, Tucson Unified School District Magnet Group, and Young Rembrandts of Tucson.
