Fusing & Flaming Fun Summer Camp
During this two day summer camp experience, campers will spend time in two of Sonoran Glass School’s studios: our Warm Shop and our Flame Shop.
On day one, students will learn basic glass fusing techniques, making 2 projects: a fused glass bowl or plate and a fused mirror. Students will learn basic glass cutting techniques along with design aesthetics in 2-D glass.
On day two, students will hop into our Flame Shop and learn how to make simple glass beads using a propane and oxygen run torch. We emphasize safety, so your child(ren) will be in good hands! Kids will learn how to wind glass onto a mandrel (steel rod) and learn basic color applications like dots and “twisties”. Each child will make between 2-6 beads during this time.
All glass art projects will be ready for pick up 5 days after your camp session. Closed toed shoes are required for all participants! We provide eye protection and all supplies. Students can bring snacks and water bottles, no meals provided.
Ages 12-18; each session will be limited to 6 students. Camp fee is $335. For mor information, and to register, go to sonoranglass.org, call 520-884-7814, or e-mail Alex at info@sonoranglass.org.
