Holmes-Levinson Group features the soulful electric guitarist Gene Holmes, a professional musician for over 45 years originally from Columbus, Mississippi. His musical pedigree is deeply rooted in the rhythm and blues of his southern heritage and was perfected as a member of Little Richard’s touring group in the early 1970s. He has been an integral part of the blues and jazz music scenes in Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Tucson since then.
Louie Levinson is a guitarist from Tombstone, Arizona who cut his teeth in the diverse music scene of Chicago where he spent a couple of decades. Louie enjoys playing a variety of genres ranging from country (as a pedal steel guitar player with the Cochise County All-Stars) to Brazilian bossa novas (Bossa Rhythm Project). He has performed at Chicago’s House of Blues numerous times and opened for acts as diverse as Astrud Gilberto and Neko Case.
Holmes-Levinson Group combines the eclectic talents of these two musicians to create a hybrid sound of jazz and blues unlike anything being played on the Tucson scene today.
