ROSEANNE CASH: THE RIVER AND THE THREAD
February 19, 2015 @ 7:30 pm| $34
“What is it about Rosanne Cash? Where does she get her uncanny power to cast a spell on those of us susceptible? Sure, she’s Johnny Cash’s daughter, and she has inherited his genius for heartbreak, but she transcends to multiple music genres with emotional power and can literally mesmerize you with her voice and lyrics.” – Ron Rosenbaum, Slate
If you love Rosanne Cash, singer/songwriters as a whole or heartfelt female performances – then don’t miss this concert.
Her latest album, The River and the Thread, is already being hailed as “…one of the most powerful works in 2014.” (Los Angeles Times). Cash has taken her authentic style, connected with her muse and risen to that challenge of creating some of the finest music in her extraordinary career.
The performance is beautiful and haunting. Audiences are being captivated all over the country along the tour and seeing her in the intimate atmosphere, with the incredible acoustics of The Fox is sure to be an evening to remember.
Along their route, Cash and Leventhal stopped at author Robert Faulkner’s house, bluesman Robert Johnson’s gravesite, and Dockery Plantation, where Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, and Charley Patton worked and sang. They crossed the Tallahatchie Bridge and wound through Rosanne’s birthplace. As the pilgrimage progressed, Cash began to hear folk and blues melodies and bittersweet stories arriving as a musical travelogue that would become The River & The Thread. With this concert, “Cash comes full circle as a storyteller and singer of exceptional grace and grit, presenting a stirring evening of emotionally rendered work that is not to be missed.” (Boston Globe)
