The Greg Morton Band

Greg Morton was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He began to play the guitar when he was around 12 years of age. His brother, Randal Morton, began to play the banjo at about the same time. Greg and Randal were headliners at various bluegrass festivals around the country. Greg’s natural musical ability allowed him to quickly develop a mastery of the guitar. While living in Memphis, Greg won the Midsouth Championship in guitar and mandolin. After sharpening his skills playing traditional bluegrass music, Greg began to apply his talents to other musical styles, including country and jazz.

Renee Angle: The New Dream Anatomy

As part of the museum’s summer-long celebration of performance art, MOCA Tucson cordially invites you to a special artist talk and performance with former MOCA Poet in Residence Renee Angle. At this event, Angle will discuss and perform the collaborative on-line dream journal she began developing during her residency, entitled The New Dream Anatomy.

The New Dream Anatomy attempts to illustrate the dream life of the citizens of Tucson and beyond by collecting dreams for storage, cataloging, and consideration from any dreamer who wishes to donate. What do the dreams of Tucsonans look like during monsoon season? What are the residents of Barrio Viejo dreaming? What does Tucson dream in October? After firecrackers? The New Dream Anatomy attempts to answer questions like these and many, many others. Dreams are a most basic creative fact, yet most illusive. By diagramming a collective dream experience, we might get closer to learning about those aspects of dreams that elude all of us, tapping into a more primal, substantive dream source than what is currently available to the single self.

The New Dream Anatomy’s online public dream journal will launch this summer. Learn more about the project and prepare yourself for dream donation by attending Angle’s dream incubation session at MOCA. This session will be informed by the online survey which you can participate in by following this link – http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XHFTJXC. The survey takes five minutes to complete and Angle will incorporate your answers into the text of her reading.

FREE for MOCA members, Non-members $5
