For one week each March, Tucson becomes the haven for many of the world’s premiere chamber musicians.

The Tucson Winter Chamber Music Festival is a way to see the very best in chamber music right here in Downtown Tucson.

The Chamber Music Festival will fill the Leo Rich Theatre with the sounds of small classical music ensembles from March 4 to 11.

This week-long series includes many concerts plus free open rehearsals, a gala dinner with wonderful music by Festival musicians, a youth concert and master classes. There will also be an acclaimed series of Festival recordings.

There is a gala dinner on March 4 at the Arizona Inn, featuring music by festival performers over dinner and champagne.

March 8 features a free youth concert at which 600 southern Arizona school children get the opportunity to see, hear and interact with the same musicians who play at the festival.

Master classes for University music students are presented on March 10. The master classes and dress rehearsals are free and open to the public.

This year’s festival features two premieres: a piano trio by Lera Auerbach and a piano quartet by Pierre Jalbert. These world premieres continue the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music’s long tradition of commissioning more that 20 new pieces of music.
