This Saturday, Get BEYOND

January 3, 2013

Spend a sunny afternoon Downtown in the heart of our community!

The Children’s Museum and Armory Park Senior Center have teamed up with a range of community health and fitness groups to host an event that promises to be the largest number of body moving options available in a single location in Downtown at Armory Park with “BEYOND – Together We Move!”

Whatever type of body movement inspires you, BEYOND will have it. The event includes fun activities planned for every age group, ability and fitness level.

“BEYOND – Together We Move,” Main Event will take place Saturday, January 5th from 12 – 4 pm at Armory Park & Children’s Museum, 220 S. Sixth Ave.

At 12pm – Livable Streets Alliance and El Grupo Youth Cycling will host a family-friendly bicycle ride around Downtown neighborhoods. Meet at the southwest corner of Armory Park. There is bike valet so you can check your bike when you get back and join in on the other festivities.

At 1 pm – Uzo Dance Methods and partners will be teaching Beyonce’s Move Your Body Flash Dance routine from the main stage.  Community dance-fest all day from the stage – Jazzercise, Zumba, Carribean, Capoeira – you name it, it’s happening!

Meet Me at … Armory Park – It’s a Run/Walk with Mayor Rothschild!

Join Mayor Rothschild as he kicks off T.E.A.M. Tucson, a health initiative for Tucson residents at BEYOND!

What makes Tucson healthy?  Together – Eat (healthy foods) – Achieve – Move!  It is that simple so…. Lets Go TEAM Tucson!

Set Your Goal for 2013! The Mayor has pledged to walk 100 miles this year at the Meet Me at Maynards or La Encantada Walk/Runs and he wants you to join him!

Kick it off your New Year’s Resolutions on this special day! Meet for the usual MMM walk/run route but instead we will start/end at the northwest corner of Armory Park.

Everyone can join in – young and old, human and canine (on a leash). Walk or run as far as you like…the full route is four miles, winding through Downtown and 4th Avenue, including a jaunt across the Snake Bridge. Make an evening of it and join us for a Meet Me Happy Hour at Janos afterwards!
