Move Your Meetings Asks Tucsonans to Support Local Businesses Along Streetcar Route

June 21, 2013

On Friday, June 21, 2013, University Boulevard, 4th Avenue and Downtown will be buzzing with 983968_350117681784709_1948489098_nactivity to kick off the beginning of a campaign to support locally owned businesses.

This campaign, known as Move Your Meetings (MYM), was inspired by the vision for a pragmatic solution to a basic problem: If we all commit to moving some of our meetings (neighborhood associations, large companies, clubs and everyday citizen meetings) to locally owned restaurants and cafes along the Modern Streetcar route, we can ensure that our local favorites thrive as the streetcar comes on line.

To kick this campaign off, MYM organizers have arranged scheduled “hubs” at locally owned businesses along the streetcar route throughout the the day on June 21. Each hub will be hosted by MYM volunteers who will provide information on how to get involved with this effort and on specific meeting space available at businesses along the streetcar route. Visitors can also commit to supporting these businesses by filling out available Move Your Meetings pledge cards.

In addition, MYM organizers expect several groups to begin their participation immediately by scheduling their first meetings at restaurants and cafes throughout that kick off day.

The following is the schedule of information hubs and participating businesses:

8:00am – 10:00am – Chocolate Iguana (500 N. 4th Ave)

10:00am – 2:00pm – The Hopyard (210 N. 4th Ave)

2:00pm – 5:00pm – Caffe Luce (943 E. University Blvd)

5:00pm – 7:00pm – The District Tavern (260 E. Congress)
