Downtown Travel Info for Event Street Closures, Oct. 10-13

Downtown Tucson will be the host of several exciting events this weekend. Below is a list of the  major events and associated motor vehicle travel restrictions for: Tucson Meet YourselfTucson Gay Freedom Day Parade, and 2nd Saturdays.

Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. Businesses, parking garages and parking lots are open and accessible. There are over 15,000 available parking spaces in the Downtown Tucson.

Some of these events will require the closure of downtown streets; however, every effort has been made to coordinate timing to provide optimum access to downtown. Other than Stone Avenue for an hour or so on Friday evening (from 6ish to 7ish p.m.), access into Downtown Tucson is available via Stone Avenue from the north, 22nd Street and Sixth Avenue from the south, St. Mary’s Road from the west and Sixth Street and Broadway from the east.

Tucson Meet Yourself – Beginning Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 13, 2013 at midnight, Church Avenue from Alameda Street to Congress Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic to accommodate exhibits and heavy pedestrian traffic attending the Tucson Meet Yourself event. Tucson Meet Yourself Festival hours are: Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about Tucson Meet Yourself, please go to www.tucsonmeetyourself.org.

Tucson Gay Freedom Day Parade – Beginning Friday, October 11, 2013 at 6 p.m. Stone Avenue will be closed between Ochoa and Alameda Streets.  Alameda Street will also be closed from Stone Avenue through Main Avenue.  These streets are expected to be open by 7 p.m.  For more information about Tucson Gay Freedom Day parade, go to www.facebook.com/events/167115716817453/permalink/168511316677893/

Tucson Gay Freedom Parade
2nd Saturdays – Beginning at noon Saturday, October 12 until midnight Scott Avenue between Broadway and Congress Street will be closed for 2nd Saturdays activities.  The Second Saturdays event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and provides family friendly activities on all of Congress Street from Fourth Avenue to Church Avenue.  For more information about 2nd Saturdays, please go to www.2ndsaturdaysdowntown.com.

2nd Saturday Oct 2013 Closures

Tucson Aids Walk – In conjunction with Tucson Meet Yourself, the annual Tucson Aids Walk will take place beginning Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 8 a.m. at the Joel Valdez Main Library/Jacome Plaza.  The walk will take place on the west side of downtown and will not have any street closures associated with the event.  For more information about the Tucson Aids Walk please go to www.aidswalktucson.org
