Smiling faces are wanted to represent beautiful Downtown Tucson this February. You can become an ambassador for Downtown, meet new people, and get involved in your community by volunteering to guide visitors and residents during the Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase as a Downtown Docent.

The Downtown Tucson Partnership is currently seeking volunteers to engage with the public during the acclaimed Tucson Gem, Fossil and Mineral Showcase from February 1st through February 16th. Volunteers will welcome visitors and assist the public with information on restaurants, attractions, hotels, parking, and more.

“It’s a great way to get involved in the community,” said Brandi Haga, Events Manager at the Downtown Tucson Partnership, “You can enjoy the beautiful weather and meet new people while supporting our Downtown and the Gem Show.

The Gem Show is one of the largest events of its kind in the world, and brings an estimated $100 million into our community, according to Visit Tucson. Over 55,000 people flock to Tucson for the show, and countless locals show up to take advantage of the deals.

This year, a transformed Downtown will welcome Gem Show visitors. Since 2008, Downtown has seen over $220 million in private investment, bringing more than 150 new restaurants, shops, and other businesses. Downtown Docents will help guide visitors to these new businesses, encouraging them to experience the amazing food, shopping, and nightlife that can only be found in Downtown Tucson.

Volunteers should be familiar with Downtown Tucson. Trainings will be offered on January 26, January 27, and January 29, covering the Gem Show, information on Downtown, how to get around, where to park, dining, events and how to navigate the Downtown Tucson website, DowntownTucson.org. Downtown Docent shirts will be provided to volunteer staff as well.

The Downtown Tucson Partnership is a non-profit, 501(c)(6) corporation committed to making Downtown Tucson the most dynamic urban center in the Southwest.
