Historic Pima County Courthouse

May 3, 2017

When bids came in low to build the a new Pima County courthouse in 1928, the Board of Supervisors used the extra money to order tile for the 100-foot-tall dome.

Under Construction:

Pima County is currently renovating the building that will become the future home of Visit Tucson, the UA Mineral Museum, the Arizona Historical Society and space for the January 8th Memorial. Listed on the National Register of Historical Places, the exterior of the courthouse building was repainted to match the original color.

Exterior rehabilitation is complete as of September 2017, according to Poster Frost Mirto(architect). Design for interior improvements underway. Project expected to be complete by Fall 2018.
