Broadway Dedicated Bike Lanes

February 9, 2018

The bicycle/pedestrian improvement project on Broadway will be a similar concept and look as the protected bike lanes(pictured above) that were completed on Stone Ave Downtown between Toole Ave and Alameda St., minus the parking spaces. (Photos/bicycletucson.com)

Under Construction:

Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation, are beginning a bicycle/pedestrian improvement project on Broadway from Aviation Parkway to Fourth Avenue downtown.

Crews are constructing a Two-Way Cycle Track (also known as separated/protected bike lanes) on westbound Broadway. The work also includes the installation of new curb access ramps, sidewalks, street signage and modifications of the existing pavement markings and traffic signals. Demolition work will begin tomorrow, January 17, 2018. The project is scheduled to be complete in early April 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Completed:

In 2015, the City of Tucson funded a $40,000 protected bike lane and pedestrian improvement project along the east side of Stone Avenue between Toole Avenue and Alameda Street (pictured above). The project included two dedicated/protected bike lanes, wider sidewalks, improved drainage, landscaping and incorporated parking spaces. The lanes were dedicated in April of 2015.
