Fill the Streetcar

The Regional Transportation Authority – Ramon Gonzales was a retired sheet metal worker in 1970 when he used $125 of his own money to buy presents and host a Christmas Eve party for the children in his neighborhood. For some of the children, it would be the only gift they received that year.

The party is called Miracle on 31st Street, and it has grown to an event that provides toys, food and fun for thousands of children who live in the most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in the Tucson metro area.

The Regional Transportation Authority is once again collecting toys for the charity event. We invite you to help Fill the Streetcar with toys to donate to the Miracle on 31st Street charity. The toys will be collected in a Sun Link streetcar parked on 8th Street, just west of 4th Avenue on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If you stop by between 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., you can enjoy the sounds of the Salpointe and Canyon del Oro High school choirs and CDO pep band. We invite Downtown and 4th Avenue merchants, residents and downtown workers to join in on the fun!
