Moxy and Element Hotels

February 6, 2019

The Moxy/Element Hotels will be the second and third Marriott hotel brands to open in the Downtown core. The first Marriott brand, AC Hotel, opened in September of 2017 and is located just across the street from the proposed addition (Renderings/FORS Architecture and GFA Architecture)

At its busy October Board Meeting, Rio Nuevo heard from developer Scott Stiteler on plans for a new 16-story tower that will include two more Marriott brands; a Moxy hotel (millennial minded hotel concept) with 109 rooms, and an Element hotel with 140 rooms (an extended-stay hotel). Rio Nuevo agreed on financing for the project that includes a 25-year GPLET and a rebate on site-specific sales tax that can not exceed 12% of the total project cost. The plan also includes closing the Rialto for up to two years so it can undergo some major renovations. Total project cost is an estimated $88 million.
