TCC Hotel Caliber Hospitality

February 27, 2019

The TCC will soon have an attached hotel to meet the demand for rooms during large trade shows like the annual Gem and Mineral Show (Rendering courtesy of Rio Nuevo).

Caliber Group (Hospitality) is proposing a $20 million, 170-bed full-service Double Tree branded hotel on the east side of the TCC adjacent to the current parking lot. The hotel will also include a banquet hall, meeting rooms, full-service bar, and restaurant. Parking on the premises is still to be determined between the Rio Nuevo board and the developer but will likely be an additional parking garage constructed on part of the current TCC east parking lot. The Rio Nuevo board signed off on an agreement in 2017 that will allow Caliber to keep a minimum of $2.5 million in sales tax revenue (Rio Nuevo portion of state sales-tax rebate program). They were also approved for a GPLET.

The developer received zoning approvals from the City Council in November 2017. The project is expected to break ground this April 2019 pending final approval from the City Council.
