General Summary:

Founded in 1998, the Downtown Tucson Partnership is a non-profit, public-private partnership charged with acting as a catalyst for the redevelopment of downtown Tucson.

Our primary functions include:

Job Description:

The Director of marketing, public relations will report to the CEO. The Director will be responsible for developing the marketing and public relations strategy and programs aimed at improving the public perception of downtown, supporting existing merchants and organizations, providing public relations assistance to festivals and events, and expanding the economic development efforts of the Partnership and downtown. This position will play a critical role in promoting Downtown as a unique place to live, work, play and visit.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Develop and implement marketing, public relations, promotional and advertising plans including development of a unique brand for the Partnership and downtown.

2.     Collaborate with the City of Tucson, TREO, Chamber of Commerce, MTCVB and the Business Improvement District (BID) to improve and coordinate strategies for the redevelopment of downtown.

3.     Oversee website including online magazine, social media, community events calendar,                 e-newsletter and other online messaging.

4.     Write, edit, and publish collateral material including brochures, newsletters, monthly and annual reports.

5.     Act as a liaison to the downtown merchants council and assist in the marketing and promotion of downtown retailers and organizations.

6.     Coordinate the Partnership’s efforts to provide print, online, and informational support for downtown festivals and events. Oversee web-based community events calendar and develop events information clearinghouse.

7.     Assist the Partnership’s economic development department with the compilation and distribution of relevant demographic, business and market data.

8.     Manage marketing budget and other duties.

Minimum Job Requirements:

1.     Five years in marketing, PR, media relations, communications or equivalent experience.

2.     Bachelor of Arts or similar degree. Bilingual background a plus.

3.     Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.

4.     Demonstrate ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans across multiple marketing platforms.

5.     Extensive knowledge of Microsoft programs, multimedia programs, and social media. Graphic design skills a plus.

6.     Passion for the Partnership’s mission and the redevelopment of downtown.

7.     Self-starter with the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Flexible, patient, hard worker, organized, and ability to multi-task. A good sense of humor a must.


Full medical and dental coverage.


$40,000-60,000, commensurate with experience.
