Benjamin Beilman, Violin; Haochen Zhang, Piano

October 15 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

| $30

Beethoven: Sonata in D major Op. 12 No. 1
Benjamin Britten: Suite Op. 6
Kaija Anneli Saariaho: Tocar
Brahms: Sonata No. 3 in D minor Op. 108

“Muscular with a glint of violence” is how the New York Times described the playing of 26-year-old Benjamin Beilman, yet he is also known for his deep, rich tone and poetic expression—think of him as a much better-looking Cyrano de Bergerac, wielding a bow rather than a sword. Shanghai-born pianist Haochen Zhang was co-gold medalist of the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition and seems an apt partner for Beilman, having been praised for his rare combination of “enchanting, sensitive lyricism and hypnotizing forcefulness.”
