Call to Artists

Would you like to have a solo exhibition of your artwork in the gallery of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library downtown?

 

Visual artists living or working in Pima County are welcome to apply during our submission period, coming up later this fall: October 22-28, 2017.

 

The Main Library welcomes more than 40,000 visitors each month – this level of visibility is unheard of in a regular art gallery. The space is incredibly visible to a vibrant and growing downtown community.

 

We conduct this call every other year and receive about 70 submissions. A jury will select 24 artists to show their work in a month-long solo exhibition in the Main Library during the 2018-2019 juried exhibit season.  Artists may be asked to show at other libraries, as well.

 

During the submission period, we will ask for:

 

  • Artist contact information
  • A brief artist statement (75 – 150 words)
  • Up to 5 JPG images (not necessarily the pieces you will show)
  • An image list (including the file name, title of the artwork, approximate year created, medium, and dimensions)
