Candy Apple Screening with director Dean Dempsey and live performance by Texas Trash and the Trainwrecks

July 11, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

| $10

Writer and director Dean Dempsey casts himself and his real life father in a film largely based on shared experiences. Drawing from actual characters and true stories strung together in a fictional narrative, Candy Apple often doesn’t distinguish between the short films being made by the protagonist and the actual plot of the movie.

After burning bridges out west, double-amputee Terry Trash moves in with his adult son Bobby in his small apartment on the Lower East Side. Bobby is reluctant but committed in helping his ex-junky father while trying to stay focused on his own creative pursuits. Unbeknownst to one another is that each lives a double life and has illegal means of earning cash. With perilous outcome, the pair battle to balance desire with responsibility in this dark comedy.
