Congress Street Walking Tour

February 21 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

| $25

Event Navigation

Coordinated by and beginning at the Presidio Museum, this tour is led by historian Ken Scoville, who will focus on the commercial development of downtown Tucson and Congress Street.  In 1870, east of Stone was getting “out of town.”  The impending arrival of the railroad caused land speculation to flourish and ongoing tensions between West and East Congress Street merchants.  Movie theaters, the first high-rise, hotels and areas with “bad reputations” will be discussed.  The cost is $25, and pre-registration is suggested at www.TucsonPresidio.com.
