Del Marinello: Paintings on Display

December 1, 2016 - December 31, 2016

| Free

The paintings of Del Marinello will be on display at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library during regular library hours in December.

Artist Statement: In my many years of working for airlines, and traveling to over 100 countries, I had never felt the desire to try to capture its awesome beauty, until our move to Arizona. The incredible colors of the dawn, sunsets, the mountains, the monsoons, and the desert’s profound beauty are, at the least, awe-inspiring. This beauty forced me, to pay attention and become fully aware of the world around me.

I began to paint in 2001, concentrating on pastel landscapes. Amazingly, I found I was so immersed in painting that 6 hours later I had not stopped, or moved from my easel. The pleasure and serenity I find while painting has continued. I enjoy challenging myself with new subjects, techniques & mediums. As time passed, I have taken hundreds of classes and expanded into Acrylics, Collage, and Mixed Media. I now find that I am intrigued by all subjects & forms; flowers, animals, people, scenery, design, buildings and, especially, in abstracting all of the above. My painting is a passion and the expression of who I am. It is all about emotion.

I have participated in numerous juried & open shows in the area. I am an active member at the Tubac Center for the Arts; The Community Performance & Art Center & Santa Rita Art League – Green Valley; and Signature Member of The Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. I participate in most of the shows, juried & non-juried, sponsored by these organizations. I look forward to many more years of creating art. My skills will continue to improve, as I continue to study while devoting more & more time to my passion. My painting “Ancient Dreams Series #III 18″ x 22” was inspired by my fascination of the peoples that populated the world in the distant past. I tried to convey through my imagination the feelings that they are always with us. After many layers; pouring, splashing, pushing, painting, scraping & collage, I achieved what I believe is an exciting, complex design. Which I hope, successfully keeps your eye moving around the painting, to find all the treasures hidden within it.
