DOWNTOWNS Around the Globe to Feature Cities of Gastronomy

Tucson’s designation by UNESCO as the first US City of Gastronomy in December, 2015, has sparked new interest from around the world in the culinary history of Southern Arizona.  Chef Janos Wilder will utilize this exciting global connection to enhance his annual DOWNTOWNS Around the Globe summer into fall promotion by featuring the cuisines of four international Cities of Gastronomy.

The first tour will begin in Parma, Italy, on May 24th, with a menu showcasing the city’s signature ingredients Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma. Led by DOWNTOWN Chef Jerry Alday, the restaurant’s culinary team has created contemporary interpretations of classic dishes from the Emilia Romagna region of Italy.  The Parma menu will be available every night at DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails with the restaurants complete a la carte menu also being offered,

To help inform and engage the public, Wilder and his culinary team will hold a cooking class and pop up dinner for each tour at the Carriage House, Wilder’s event space and cooking school located just east of DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails.   At these kick off events, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the culinary history of each city and get to sample many of the dishes from each unique tour.
