Downtowns Around the Globe Shunde, China Class and Pop up Dinner

The annual DOWNTOWNS Around the Globe Culinary Tour of four international sister Cities of Gastronomy is ongoing at DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails.  The next stop on the tour will feature a special menu based on the cuisine of Shunde, China which was named a UNESCO City of Gastronomy in 2014.  The new menu will be available (along with the regular dinner menu) at DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails August 22- October 2. The menu for the final destination, ZahlĂ©, Lebanon, will be available beginning October 3- November 13, with a class/pop up dinner on Friday, September 29.

Shunde, one of the cradles of Cantonese cuisine, is situated at the core of the Pearl River Delta, with Guangzhou to the north and Hong Kong to the south. Its outstanding natural environment, lively cultural scene, prosperous economy and renowned culinary arts academies provide particularly favorable conditions for the development of a gastronomic culture and industry.

Chef Janos Wilder will lead a class and pop up dinner on the cuisine of Shunde, China on Friday, August 25th at 6pm at the Carriage House.  The class will cover culinary history as well as recipes for select dishes from the menu that will be served at DOWNTOWN Kitchen + Cocktails. Following the class, attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and a multi- course dinner paired with wine (see menu below).
