Event Navigation

1986 American Film Directed & Written by John Hughes

Starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Jones and Jennifer Grey

It’s a fantastic spring day, and their final school year is almost over. That’s all the reason Ferris Bueller needs to declare an unofficial day off from classes. Concocting a brilliant plan that has everyone but his sister and the high school principal fooled, Bueller and company head off for a day of outrageous fun in Chicago.

For many, the movie defines a generation. Ferris’ commentary throughout the movie is hilarious and irreverent, giving a voice to those on the borderline between Generations X and Y. It’s a witty and fast-paced film, not relying on the bathroom humor and physical comedy that most teenage and college comedies do these days.

With John Hughes in the director’s chair, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is ’80s comedy at its very best.
