Panel Discussion: Migrant Justice Now

January 24 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

| Free

Event Navigation

Etherton Gallery and the ACLU of Arizona invite you to attend a panel discussion on the criminalization of migrants at 5:30pm, January 24, 2019, moderated by Nancy Montoya of Arizona Public Media. President Trump’s war on asylum seekers has separated thousands of children from their parents in the latest dark chapter of a decades-long trend. One hundred migrants are processed in Tucson’s Federal Court every day for entering our border. Many face criminal charges due to an obscure, yet powerful section of the United States criminal code while also defending against deportation — a civil court process that does not entitle them to legal representation. Hear from three attorneys on the frontlines  who believe that this law should be repealed. Learn how you can help bring transparency and accountability to our justice system by becoming a court observer. Speakers: Billy Peard, ACLU Attorney; Erendire Castillo, Castillo Law; Isabel Garcia, Derechos Humanos. For more information, contact Etherton Gallery: (520) 624-7370 or info@ethertongallery.com
