Science Cafe at Borderlands Brewing Co. – ‘Harnessing Storm Water in Desert Cities’

January 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event Navigation

Presenter: Neha Gupta, PhD Student, Department of Hydrology & Atmospheric Sciences

About the talk:Desert cities such as Tucson, Arizona are trying to address the challenges of drought and flooding. An emerging strategy to address these problems involves capturing rainwater either as it falls, or as it runs through city streets as stormwater—approaches collectively termed “green infrastructure.” My research seeks to understand how green infrastructure networks work best in our desert landscape and how it is best implemented.

About Science Cafes: Science Cafes, presented by the University of Arizona College of Science, bring the community together with University of Arizona scientists and graduate students in a casual setting. You’ll learn about the latest research being conducted, get to know the faces behind the science, and have opportunities to ask questions and deepen your understanding. We have five separate cafe series at five different locations around Tucson, each with their own themes for fascinating science discussions.
