The Craft of Writing: Short Fiction and How it Works

December 8 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

| Free

Event Navigation

Learn the trick to writing a great short story. Using Douglas Glover’s essay, “Short Story Structure: Notes and an Exercise,” Martha Petersen will lead a discussion on short story construction. Participants are invited to bring their works in progress. We will identify the primary conflict in each story, and find the sentence the story can hang on. Martha will also introduce an exercise, or a formula, for writing a short story.

Facilitated by Martha Petersen, MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, former writing instructor at Pima Community College.
