Tucson Modern Quilt Guild: Quilting on Display

May 3 - May 31

| Free

Quilts from the Tucson Modern Quilt Guild will be on display on the wooden towers in the café area of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library from May 1-31 during regular library hours.

Artist Statement:

The mission of the Tucson Modern Quilt Guild is to support and encourage the growth and development of modern quilting through art, education, and community.  We are proud to be part of the international organization. The Modern Quilt Guild (MQG). Modern quilts may have characteristics such as the use of bold colors and prints, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, or alternate grid work.  Other quilts exemplify modern traditionalism, which may be an update of classic quilt designs.

Our group meets monthly and schedules days to get together and sew. We make quilts to donate to local and national charities.  We meet the second Thursday of the month at the Quilt Basket at 6:30 PM.  Follow our blog at tucsonmodernquilts.com or contact us tucsonquilts@gmail.com.
