Two Ancient Philosophers on Why Death is No Evil

November 4, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

| Free

Ancient philosophers Plato and Epicurus disagreed on whether the soul is immortal, yet neither thought death is to be feared. Instead, both argued that death gives us a reason to live a meaningful life. Rachana Kamtekar, associate professor in the Department of Philosophy, explores these views and their relevance today.

This lecture is part of the UA College of Social and Behavioral Sciences’ Downtown Lecture Series on “immortality.”

Free tickets at the Fox Tucson Theatre ticket booth (in front of the theater) starting at 4:00pm on the day of each lecture. For more information visit http:/downtownlectures.arizona.edu/.
