|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 8:00am, repeating until June 9, 2017

This is a five-day session (8am to noon each day) which will focus on proper use of a wood shop. We will use the array of tools in the wood shop to explore the capabilities for fabrication and construction techniques with wood. We will work with various types of wood using the techniques and equipment of the Xerocraft Wood Shop. We will provide an overview of equipment safe use and introductory use of the SawStop table saw, band saw, routers, drill presses, planers, sanders and lathe. As an introductory class on woodwork, the goal is to expose the students to the proper use of power equipment and show what it can do. Each student will construct a wood shop project that they will take home. For creative young people ages 11+. Cost $285. Xerocraft Makerspace 101 W Sixth St.  http://www.xerocraft.org/camp.php
