Schubert: Quartet in A Minor (“Rosamunde”), D. 804 Shostakovich: Quartet No. 7 in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 108 Smetana: Quartet No. 1 in E Minor (“From My Life”) The globe-trotting Czech ensemble, named for a promising Czech composer killed at Auschwitz, opens our season with a sonic survey of life itself, including Smetana’s musical autobiography, Schubert’s lyrical and introspective refuge from illness, and Shostakovich’s brief quartet written in memory of his first wife.

Michael Hall, conductor Story by Susan Lowell Music by Ilona Vukovic-Gay In this sequel to The Three Javelinas, Josefina dreams of being a ballerina, so she sets off for Pasadena, California. (That’s right next to Hollywood!) At the talent agency, she meets White E. Lamb who, it turns out, is a coyote. During the ensuing chase, she impresses everyone with her fancy footwork and she becomes famous, starring as the Sugar Plum Hairy in The Nutcracker.
